COUNTRY ARTIST ROCKIE LYNNE IS DECLARED AN ‘HONORARY ADMIRAL’
September 21, 2009—Nashville, TN: Country artist Rockie Lynne was presented with a framed proclamation, pronouncing him an Honorary “Admiral” in the Minnesota Naval Militia for “demonstrating notable patriotism, valor and fidelity.”
The declaration was issued and signed by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and presented to a surprised and nearly speechless Lynne after his performance at the 6th Annual Tribute To The Troops benefit concert last Sunday, September 13th, in Minneapolis, MN.
This prestigious appointment was made to Rockie Lynne in recognition of the efforts he has made on behalf of troops related causes. Lynne is co-founder of the Minnesota-based charity motorcycle ride and benefit concert TRIBUTE TO THE TROOPS, which just completed its 6th annual event on September 11, 12 & 13 and has raised over $100,000 for the families of fallen soldiers (www.tributetothetroops.org).
Lynne also recently returned from a 21-day Armed Forces Entertainment tour where he and his band entertained our deployed troops at bases around the world, including Afghanistan, The Persian Gulf and Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, his original composition, “Red, White and Blue” which was included on his self-titled debut released on Universal Records, is played at most memorial services in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lynne himself is a veteran of the United States Army and served in the 82nd Airborne, Ft. Bragg, NC.
“I was stunned when Sgt. Major Mills called me onto the stage and presented this to me. I am humbled by such a gesture,” comments Lynne of the appointment.
