Among her many accolades, Barbara was the first artist to win the CMA Entertainer Of The Year for two consecutive years and has won multiple awards from the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, American Music Awards, The Grammy® Awards, People's Choice Awards as well as a Dove Award. Her variety show, "Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters" on NBC drew millions of viewers weekly. Barbara has also starred in numerous television shows, including her farewell performance at Nashville's Opry House, a sell-out concert titled "Barbara Mandrell and the Do-Rites: The Last Dance." Currently, she spends her time lending support to projects such as the beautification of Music City with the Nashville Music Garden and helping local animal shelters. It seems that even in retirement, and to no one's surprise, Barbara's legacy continues to thrive.

Now celebrating its tenth year, NSC will be held May 30- June 1, 2008 at the historic downtown Union Station Hotel. One of the most popular panels at the conference is the "Music in the Movies" luncheon, scheduled for Saturday, May 31 at 12 p.m. at the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Ford Theatre. The luncheon will offer aspiring songwriters, composers and artists advice on how to get their music placed in films and TV. NSC is pleased to announce this year’s luncheon will include the opportunity for attendees to submit songs for placement in seven upcoming major motion pictures. Writer/Executive Producer and NSC board member, Les Bohem says, “ The great thing about the "Music in the Movies" panel is that these executives come to Nashville hungry, telling us exactly what they need. They want to go home with music for their movies, so they’re more than willing to listen to what this community has to offer them.” Lucas Reynolds of the band Blue Merle who wrote the song "Something Inside" for August Rush explained, "As a fully committed songwriter who attended the "Music in the Movies" panel and the Nashville Screenwriters Conference events a couple years back, I was provided with an amazing opportunity to write for films. Every songwriter and artist--no matter what genre--should go to this panel!" "Music in the Movies" luncheon tickets are limited and sell out fast. Tickets for this panel are available with standard weekend registration before May 29 for $100 or a la carte for $40.
