It's very interesting that almost the only Country music played at the CMA Awards was from the Eagles! It is indicative that Country music has lost sight and track of its roots. It's not accidental that an album only on sale at Walmarts topped both the Pop and Country charts. It would be nice if radio, record company bosses and other artists actually learned something from this release. It is such a pleasure not to have my head beaten up by Country which is actually really heavy metal.

I am a sucker for these unusual pairings. Take Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris. This produced a masterpiece of a CD in "All The Roadrunning." So therefore putting the legendary Robert Plant, lead singer of, among other things, Led Zeppelin and Bluegrass star, Alison Krauss has all the potential possible. However, as a longtime critic of T. Bone Burnett's production skills, I was uncertain of the result. This CD took me three listens before I came to grips with it. I am still critical of T. Bone's production; especially vocal production which is at times sloppy, the talents of Robert and Alison are such as overcome any production negatives. The material runs the gamut from rock to Celtic with all stops in between. This may not be a masterpiece but is bound to get a Grammy nod. A hearty congratulations for the cover photography from Pamela Springsteen. It is perfect.

I make no bones about it, I like Lisa O'Kane!! In an era of mediocrity, she stands out. She is a first rate writer, a good singer and this CD is very well produced. In fact this CD reminded me of that equally talented Suzy Bogguss and there lies the problem. We live in times of increasing irrelevancy and asI said earlier, mediocrity. Can Lisa turn the tide? Me hopes so!! With the redoubtable publicist Martha Moore behind her and a producer in Edward Tree who actually knows how to produce, Lisa is a name to watch. By the way, nice touch having Albert Lee playing on the lead off cut.
